tell me a story, mr. brook!

The closeness is comforting, really. He can feel Rich breathing lightly against him, and he turns his head a bit to get a better look at the younger man. Sebastian twists his hand a little in Rich’s grip to lace their fingers together.

Then there is the question. The sniper sucks in a deep breath, somewhat relieved. Then a smile crosses his lips and he says quietly, “Yeah, we are.” His left hand comes up, showing a silver ring on his finger. “…We were gonna get married, actually. But then…” Sebastian trails off in silence then leans over, cheek resting on Rich’s shoulder.

“I missed you.”

He reaches out to take hold of Sebastian’s left hand, and examines the ring on his finger. It looks familiar, and he wracks his brain to think where he’s seen it…And then it clicks. I have one like this. He lets go of Sebastian’s hand so that he can slide his hand down into his own shirt and pull the dog tags out. Also on the chain, however, is the silver engagement ring that Sebastian had gotten for him. See?

He ponders for a moment whether he not he should put the ring back on, but decides that for the time being, he’s going to leave it on the chain with the dog tags. At least then, he knows that he won’t lose it or something like that. Sebastian’s face is resting on his shoulder by this point, and he shifts so that he can slide his arm around Seb’s waist. …Would you like to still get married one day?

Sebastian isn’t bothered at all by the contact. In fact, he welcomes it, and frowns a bit as Rich pulls away. Reaching over, he takes the younger man’s hand in his gently once more, thumb running along the top. He feels cold, but his skin soon warms up in the sniper’s grip. “No need to apologise. Let’s go, and we can stop for food on the way if you want.”

He wants to kiss him, but doesn’t. That would startle the poor man too much. No, only pull things like that when he begins to remember. Sebastian leads him a little ways down the sidewalk and flags down a cab. He holds the door open for Rich then slides in next to him and gives the name of a small cafe he knows is still open at this time. As the vehicle takes off down the road, he leans back in the seat.

It’s…Actually rather nice, walking hand-in-hand with Sebastian. It feels right, and he doesn’t have the faintest clue why. All he knows, is that he needs contact with Sebastian like this more often, and he’ll be damned if he isn’t going to make an effort to hold hands with Sebastian more often.

When they’re in the taxi, Richard makes an effort to shuffle up ever so slightly, so that he’s close to Sebastian, almost in a position to have their thighs pressed up against each other. He doesn’t want to stretch the boundaries too much though, so he leaves the tiniest bit of space between them. However, he makes sure that he still has a hold of Sebastian’s hand.

After a moment’s silence, he speaks up, asking something that’s been weighing on his mind since Sebastian arrived at the park. “…We really are together, aren’t we?” He upturns his head slightly, eyes searching Sebastian’s face as he waits for an answer. If it’s a ‘no’, then…Well, he’ll actually be severely disappointed. He’s been wondering who the mysterious ‘Sebastian Moran’ is, ever since he’d woken up to find himself wearing the man’s dog tags.

“There’s St. James’s Park,” he responds. That reminds him when Rich was kidnapped and just left there, naked and confused. Sebastian briefly wonders if taking him there would help refresh a few memories, no matter how unpleasant they may be.

The sniper sucked in a deep breath then turned his gaze back down to Rich, enjoying the weight against his side, a weight he had missed. “I can take you there now, if you like.”

The name stirs something in the back of his mind, but he isn’t quite sure what it is. After a moment of frenzied thinking, which is made obvious by the very slight look of concentration on his face, he gives a nod. “I’d like that. Could we also go and grab something to eat soon? I’m feeling a little hungry.” He moves from Seb’s side then, but takes hold of his hand instead.

It’s a reflex action, one that he doesn’t even realise that he’s done, and doesn’t quite notice until a few moments later. He glances down at their joined hands and flushes ever so slightly, looking quickly back up at Seb. “…I…I’m sorry.” He lets go now.

“It is.” It takes him a moment to realize his eyes are focused on Rich’s face, and not the park when he agrees. But with his brief embarrassment, he catches sight of the silver chain which was hidden beneath the man’s shirt. Sebastian recognizes it, and a faint smile crosses over his lips.

His eyes flicker out over the park, he keeps close to Rich’s side. Though the other man may not remember much about them, he’s still there at his side again. Sebastian can find comfort in that.

After a few minutes, Rich finds himself leaning against Seb just a little bit. It’s not much, just one man’s arm pressed lightly against the other’s, but it makes him feel comfortable. He has no idea why, but he isn’t going to argue against it. He’s had trouble actually finding many things that have been able to do that since he lost his memory.

“Do you know any other parks in London?” He looks back up at Seb, all innocence and wonder. As much as he likes the view in Hyde Park, he can’t help but question whether or not there might be a better view elsewhere.

The smile makes something spark in his abdomen. Sebastian doesn’t hesitate to return the smile. He’s sure Rich doesn’t remember what… what they had. At least, not now. But part of him wonders if he still has the ring, if he wonders where that ring comes from.

“Everything okay?” He asks, slipping his hand away and tucking it back into his pocket.

He gives a slight nod, bringing a hand up to rub the back of his neck. As he does so, it moves his collar ever so slightly, revealing a silver chain that’s hanging around his neck. Just…Admiring the view, really. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? He turns to face back into the park, just taking in his surroundings, cataloging everything and storing as much to memory as he can.

Okay.

Flipping his phone shut, it only takes a few more minutes of walking for him to reach the main entrance of the park. It really is pretty at night, he notes. It’s nice to see again after a while. But his main focus is on the small, familiar man waiting by it whom he approaches cautiously, his hand resting lightly on his shoulder.

… Hey there.

Rich can’t stop himself from starting ever so slightly when Seb’s hand touches his shoulder. The other man had been practically silent behind him, so it’s no wonder. He turns on his heel to face Sebastian, before smiling up at him gently. Hi, Seb. He can feel something stirring in the back of his mid, but doesn’t quite know what it is.

Maybe, just haven’t found it yet. In due time, I guess, right?

Also, I’m almost there. Where exactly are you?

Near the main entrance. I’ll keep an eye out for you, okay?

hitthebullseye:

I’d offer to add more to that story, but I don’t have a creative bone in my body.

All right, I’ll be there in a few minutes. Hang tight and stay where you are.

It’s okay, I didn’t know I had one until a few days ago. Maybe yours is hidden away somewhere.

hitthebullseye:

Of course I can come join you. Wouldn’t want any killer squirrels after you, yeah?

Well, it certainly is tedious to be on. Takes too long. The sight from the top is nice for a bit, then you just want to get down.

…That would make a good story. Not about killer squirrels, obviously. But squirrels living in Hyde Park, maybe.

I’ll wait for you to get here before I think about making my way home then.

hitthebullseye:

Ah…

Yeah, Hyde Park is quite the sight to see at night. I haven’t been able to go in a while, though. I’ve been… busy. Work.

But we used to go all the time. I miss you. I miss those times.

Have you seen the London Eye yet?

You should come and see it now. The company would be…Quite nice. Plus, these squirrels look shifty, and I don’t trust them…

…I saw it in a brochure. It looks…Well, I wouldn’t like to go on it. I’m afraid of heights.
